Made with collagen protein fibre instead of plastic, Synths 2 is designed to look, feel, and perform like real hair. The result? Braiding hair that’s softer, scalp-safe, lightweight, and effortlessly natural, now with a bold, seasonal colour moment.

 

This Valentine’s edition pink and burgundy braiding hair is a limited run and will not be restocked once sold. Perfect for ponytails which can be booked separately at our Selfridges Braid Bar here.

FAQs

Is Synths 2 Braid-It dyeable?

Yes. Synths 2 Braid-It is dyeable and can be coloured using PH-neutral dyes. Results may vary depending on the shade, dye type, and technique used.

 

Are the Valentine’s colours already dyed?

Yes. The Valentine’s pink and burgundy shades are pre-dyed and are available for a limited time, while stocks last.

 

Will re-dyeing affect the colour?

Re-dyeing or over-processing may impact colour vibrancy, texture, or longevity. 

 

Can the colour fade or transfer?

As with all dyed hair, slight fading may occur over time, especially with frequent washing, heat, or water exposure. Minimal colour transfer may be possible when the hair is new or damp.

As the Synths have been dyed, the colour is likely to run when wet.

 

To protect your belongings, we recommend:

- Avoiding light-coloured clothing or pillowcases

- Ensuring the hair is fully dry before contact with fabrics

 

Is dyed Synths 2 safe for sensitive scalps?

Synths 2 is made with collagen protein fibre and is scalp-safe and hypoallergenic. As they have been dyed, we would recommend completing a patch test. Customers are responsible for ensuring suitability before use. If you have a history of dye allergies or sensitivities, we do not recommend use.

 

How can I maintain the colour?

To help preserve colour vibrancy:

- Avoid excessive washing

- Use gentle, sulphate-free products

- Limit heat styling

- Ensure hair is fully dry before contact with light fabrics

- Made with collagen, not plastic

- Pre-dyed

- Heat-resistant up to 180°C

- Dyeable

- Biodegradable

- Arrives clean and ready to use — no pre-washing or soaking needed

- Can be reused 2–3 times with good care

What makes Synths2 different?

What is it made of?

Synths2 is made from advanced collagen protein fibre, primarily sourced from bovine (beef) collagen. This collagen comes from type 1 and type 3 proteins found in cow hides - the same proteins often used to support joint and gut health! After cattle are processed for meat, the hides are carefully treated to extract the collagen protein.

The collagen is then hydrolysed, breaking it down into smaller amino acids that make the fibre stronger, more flexible and easier to style. Unlike many synthetic options made from plastic, collagen proteins are naturally more heat-resistant, making them ideal for safe styling up to 180°C. Finally, the fibres are dyed and set on rods to achieve the desired colours and textures, ensuring consistency across every pack of hair.

How many packs will I need?

We find that most people use 3–4 packs. For fuller looks, you may need 5+ packs depending on the style, thickness and length you want. Each pack is 140g, with the exception of the Afro Kinky texture which is 80g, as less is needed per style.

Can I use heat?

Absolutely! Synths2 can be heat-styled up to 180°C, making it perfect for curling, straightening or refreshing your look.

Is it safe for sensitive scalps?

Yes. Synths2 is hypoallergenic and free from common irritants. This reduces the risk of reactions and makes it suitable for sensitive scalps. However, if you know you are sensitised to bovine collagen and/or acrylates, we recommend choosing human hair extensions instead.

Can I mix textures and colours?

Yes, Synths2 is available in multiple textures (Afro Kinky, Bone Straight, Textured Straight) and shades that can be mixed for a custom look.

Disposal guidance

When you are ready to remove your extensions, dispose of them in general waste where they will naturally biodegrade. This makes Synths2 a safer, more sustainable alternative to traditional synthetic hair.
